Choosing the precious metal
At Love & Co, our rings are crafted in either 18K Gold or Platinum. For 18K Gold, you can choose between white gold, yellow gold, or rose gold. Before making a final decision, it is worth weighing the pros and cons of the various types of engagement ring metals.

Contrary to popular belief, when you buy a piece of gold jewellery, it is rarely made of pure gold. Pure gold is too malleable and soft to be suited as jewellery for everyday wear. Instead, you purchase gold alloy. For engagement rings, the most common gold alloys are either 18K Gold or 14K Gold. For 18K gold, it consists of 75% gold content while 14K gold consists of 58.5% gold content.

At Love & Co., all our engagement rings are crafted in 18K Gold, as we believe it is the purer option out of the two. It emulates a warmer and more vibrant tone as compared to 14K gold, and emits a gorgeous near-gold glow.
18K White Gold
White gold is an incredibly beautiful, and popular choice for engagement rings. White gold looks similar to platinum, but is notably less expensive. It beautifully complements diamonds that are rated on a colourless to near colourless scale, as it enhances the brilliance and sparkle of the stone.

White gold is composed of gold, nickel, and rhodium as an alloy.
18K Yellow Gold
Yellow gold boasts the rich hue for which gold is famous for, and brings a beautiful and glamorous luster to the entire ring design.
18K Rose Gold
Rose gold is a popular alloy, lending a beautiful pinkish colour tone to the metal. It has gained popularity in recent years, and is a favourite for couples looking for something more modern.

Rose gold is composed of gold and copper as an alloy.
Platinum
Platinum is an extremely rare and valuable metal. The annual worldwide production of platinum is approximately only a-tenth of the annual production of gold! Platinum has a stunning silver appearance and is more durable as compared to other precious metals. Its qualities magnify the sparkle and brilliance of diamonds.

It is also an extremely pure metal. This makes it highly suitable for those who may have allergic reactions to precious metals.
